We've been in South Africa for two days now and we're having a fantastic time. The first part of this adventure starts in Stanton with Matt's auntie and uncle. They have an amazing house with a pool in the yard and the kids are having a great time making good use of that. I'm loving having papaya for breakfast each day.
Today we went to montecasino bird land and had a real "home ed" day. The kids learned loads in a bird show "flights of fantasy" and we were all impressed with the size of the pelican and the blue crane.
William enjoyed reading the signs about the animals more than looking at the actual animals, with the exception of the frog house. Along with frogs they had some geckos, tarantulas and scorpions that really took his interest.
Elisha's favourite part was the birds flying and making near passes over our heads during the show. She loved it until the host told us about one of the birds being able to crush a rabbit skull in his talons, after which a face like thunder set in!
This afternoon we've mostly played in the pool and played uno. The kids have gone to bed at 6pm both nights (it was necessary. They didn't sleep on the plane) but are doing well to stay awake most of the day, with the odd sneaky nap in the car.
Tomorrow we're packing up and jumping on the train to Pretoria to visit Gemma and Mark and their new puppy Bo, so I suspect there'll be lots more photos!
