Maybe not Gordon's last trip
T^hought I would stop off for a couple of days R and R before I took on the trip through Malaysia. Needless to say it has rained pretty well incessantly since I got here.......so no tan time!!
Also had the European\'s dream of maybe letting the flat out for six months of the year and going to sit on a tropical island. Foolish boy!
So did everyone else by the look of things. This island looks like on entire building site with the only future lying in being either a brickie or a bartender. And oddly enough, the Tsunami has added to the desire to purchase here as the island sits on the other side of the peninsula and is safe from such events.
What was once a nice stop off for a few days has pretty much turned into Costa Thailand with the T shirts sellers, the fast food joints, the moto cycle agents and the girlie bars springing up all over so any thoughts I might have had of staying here for a few days more are probably abandoned.
One good note however.....having heard a member of staff in my hotel speak English with an East London accent, I asked her if she knew of any \'meetings\' on the island. Of course, she only had a friend who attended same and promptly called him for the details.
Two meetings later, having met some local expats and other travellers passing through I am back on the path of serenity!!
As the sun has just elected to poke its nose out of the clouds I am off now to catch a few rays before its too late.
