We've made it to Singapore, after a rather uncomfortable flight!! I had my first experience of sitting by the window and being on the wing, and I can honestly say I didnt enjoy it that much. Hope the flight next monday will be better! Singapore is so different to Thailand, everything and everyone is so much calmer, cleaner, and nice. We have ventured into a backpackers hostel, where we sleep in dorms, we were a bit apprehensive when we arrived but its such a nice place, quite a homely atmosphere, a good way to meet new people, and we are all in the same situation so we all have something in common. We are sharing a dorm with 4 other girls( Helen mentioned above that my snoring is keeping everyone awake) dont listen to her!!!
We have arrived here during the Chinese New Year, and on saturday night we went to see a street carnival "the parade of dreams"! They had decorated their floats, they were so colourful and bright! We even saw the Worlds Tallest Man!! Today we went to the small island south of singapore - Sentosa, we went over in a Cabel Car- Very high up!! we also saw some pink dolphins- they were a bit strange!!
It is so hot here- apparantley the hottest it has been in 29 years - and I have managed to catch a very bad cold!! ;(
We are going to see Norah Jones in Concert sunday night, a birthday treat (just to remind you - Helen-24 saturday , Fiona-21 monday!!!)
well thats it for now, we have another week here so Im sure we'll have more stories to tell you before we go!
bye for now fiona xxx
we've been very busy in the last few days so here's a bit of an update!! We are situated in a great place, Chinatown and Little India a both very close, we had a great time exploring their different markets. The colours and smells from the food stalls were pretty amazing! Had the best meal in China town, proper chinese food!! Think there will be another parcel home very soon with stuff we(helen mostly) bought in the markets!!
Of course we have been celebrating our birthdays! thank you all for the birthday messages!! We started off saturday morning with an amazing thunder storm and heavy showers, then in the afternoon we went for a 'Singapore Sling' at the Raffles Hotel, which was very nice! Then the owner of the hostel made us a birthday meal last night, very tasty! then a crowd of us who are staying at the hostel went out for a few drinks and of course went to watch the rugby! where we managed to end up in a pub full of the French, good job we won!! So it's all very quite here today! Taking it easy... were off to see Norah Jones tonight, so might have to go for a nap before we set off again tonight. We are flying to Cairns tomorrow night, so you'll be getting the next instalment with an Austrailian accent! So good bye for now......
