Rownd y Byd efo Helen a Fiona!!
I'm in Sydney!!! Still havent found Helen& Ems though!!!! But Ive had plenty of excitment and Ive only been here a night!!! I arrived at the hostel to find that Im in the same room as Elin !! (small world) and a crazy lady - she was chatting away to herself all night!!!! And at 8am this morning I found myself in my PJ's on the street with firemen everywhere!!! Yes, we had a fire alarm go off!!! Glad I was only on the 3rd floor, not the 8th!!!! So its all going off to a good start here in Sydney! And guess where we're going on Friday 13th - Up the Harbour Bridge!!!!!!!! Shall let you know how it went...............if not then you'll know where we'll be!!!!!!!!!!!!!! see ya' Fi
Hi, I made it!!!!! I found Helen & Ems and off we went friday afternoon up the famous Sydney Harbour Bridge!! There was so much preperation to be done before we could go up - first of all we had to take a breathaliser test - just in case we were drunk!! Then we got kitted out in the gear, first was the attractive grey jumpsuits, then the harness, which attached us to the bridge through out the climb, a little torch round my head, head phones to hear the guide, and because we were walking above the road we had to make sure nothing would fall down, so we were given special hankies with elastic around our wrists!! (nice) so off we went - it was such an amazing experience!! We went up around 4pm so as we were walking up we got to watch the sunset! and view Sydney by day and night!! It was great, I would definitaley recommend it to all of you guys!! But I did have a bit of a scary experience on the way down, we had to walk down 4 ladders that were between the 2 railway lines that cross the bridge, Who other than myself would be lucky enough to be on the ladder with both trains going past, phew I had to hold on tight, the ladder was shaking so badly!!! We got back down with rather shaky legs, but the next day we were suprisingly good!!
On Sunday we went to an AFL match ( Aussie Rules Football) Sydney Swans v Port Adelaide, there was a crowd of us(160) from the hostels that went and had great seats right behind the goal posts (all 4 of them!!) It's a very confusing game , 18 players in each team, about 5 referees who you just have to laugh at when they run around the field backwards, they go so fast it's amazing that they didnt trip up! and you have a couple of Runners, going back and forward telling the players what to do.... so all in all... there were a lot of men running around!!!!! :) Crazy game!!! They had a punch up before the game even started!!! It was quite a long game too, they played 4 periods of 30 minutes! So after the game we all went back to the hostels bar to discuss the game over a few beers....
We have a few things organised for the next week or so, so I'll be in touch soon!!!! Fi xx
I know I said that we had a few things organised for our last week in Sydney... I have to be honest with you, we didn't really do that much!! We went to see the Lion King Musical which was great - the costumes were just amazing, and very life like!! We all enjoyed the performance! Especially Helen who was singing for the few days that followed!! On thursday we went on a day trip to the Blue Mountains! Such an amazing sight! All the vapour from the eucaluptus trees give off a blue haze over the forests and mountains!! We got to go in the little train down the side of the mountain! We sat in the train and wondered why we were leaning back so far, we soon realised when the train started to move! The mountain was so steep, we were upright in the train! And very fast!! Then in the afternoon we went to the Jenolan Caves, that was great fun!! Ems left us on Sunday which was very upsetting, so I did my best to entertain Helen! Our last week we took it very easy, and had a very entertaining week in the hostel! I had such a laugh on our last night! There was a few of us watching TV in the hostel, when the lift doors opened, but the lift was only halfway down! With someone in it! The funny thing was that the guy works as a lift engineer!! He then went back up, got to Level 3 got stuck again and fell asleep for a couple of hours, until his friend noticed he hadn't got to bed!!!! So Funny!! (you had to be there!)
Leaving Australia saturday morning, off to Auckland, New Zealand! I've had such a great time here, quite sad to be leaving, but I will be back!!!!!!!! It's all good!!!!
