Dragging our bodies out of bed and checking in at the airport early certainly proved worthwhile! Thanks for the Business Class upgrade Emirates! Despite being only a 3 hour flight ...on the A380 it was a great experience! So comfy, enjoyed the movie (Whisky Tango Foxtrot) and no doubt the Moët helped! Great bar!
Arrival was straightforward - our first trip with automated passport scanning - all good.
Didn't have to wait too long for the yellow Britz bus and the short ride to
their depot.
Our Outlander 4 berth campervan was ready for us after short period of formalities....all quite overwhelming .... a very new experience for us...somewhat hindered by consistent rain. Really quite limited information provided - all reliant on watching instructional videos. Regardless we were on the road by about 3.30pm . Found a Countdown supermarket (Woolwoths) close by and grabbed a few necessities. Manned with an array of maps and tourist information and our Tom Tom we headed south on the state highway for the approx 130 km trip to Hamilton which took just over two hours. Thankfully found a holiday park just before dark to set up before heading out again to find something to quench our thirst and some sustenance. Our first experience of a kiwi -style pub, a bottle shop and a suburban Chinese restaurant. All interesting.
Good to return to our site for a nightcap and set up our bed for the night. Struggled with some power issues...all part of the "glamping" learning curve!
