We've done well in terms of injuries and illnesses -- stayed completely healthy, no troubles at all, and no injuries. Haley did get too close to one of the orangutans while doing work in that area. He grabbed a hold of her tank top shirt and bra strap in one quick grab, and wouldn't let go. She pulled back, but he wasn't going to let go, and part of her chest was exposed for a moment. Ok, it was hot last week -- we knew that going in, prepared for it, and made it through until the weekend of R&R. Now, it's really freakin' hot. Smokin' hot, disgusting hot, and we're melting. Worked hard today, first cleaning orangutan cages and feeding them, and Haley doing the same thing for the Sun Bears. Not too bad there, as we were in the covered areas. With our first of two weeks of volunteering now complete, we have earned a weekend of R&R. We work Monday-Friday at the Matang Wildlife Centre, and then the volunteers all make plans together for the weekend in Kuching. Selamat Datang ! It is Tuesday, July 7th -- Haley and I are now at the Matang Wildlife Centre in Malaysia, in our first day of actual volunteer work.
