As always we're happy & excited to be starting another adventure together.......although with the thrill of anticipation, we experience feelings of sadness as we leave our family - Adrian, Kate and Indy (the best dog in the world :)
We can't carry them along with us in our suitcase, but we do carry them with us in our hearts ❤️
We've been wished Bon Voyage and safe travels by our friends - so off we go - leaving Ottawa train station on the warmest & sunniest day in weeks, to make the journey to Montreal airport, Toronto airport and "across the pond" to Manchester.
Arriving to heavy clouds, but no rain & pleasant temperatures, the train from Manchester travels across the scenic Pennines and completes our journey to Yorkshire.
Having slept 3 hours on the plane - enough to take the edge off - we sat outside in the garden, had a drink & a chat with Marjie & Glyn - followed by a dinner of fish, chips & mushy peas.....we really knew we were back in Yorkshire!
After a long night's sleep - we felt better....so with only 1 day before heading out on the road to Wales, we set out the next morning to Rotherham. The walk to town included a stop at our favourite cafe & a breakfast of cappuccino & lemon scones (it actually was way past breakfast time) we headed to see Trevor's mum, Clarice who at 103 is our very own national treasure.
Saturday morning we were off - and 6 hours later we were in South West Wales - travelling mostly on motorways - but with the last few miles along narrow country lanes, we were reminded of Cornwall and the ones that we travelled on last year.
Our holiday home for 2 weeks is a lovely detached, 4 bedroom cottage in Marloe, Pembrookshire. With 2 bedrooms on the main floor and 2 upstairs there is plenty of room for the four of us.....the only downside is that the 2 full bathrooms are on the main floor!
The large kitchen is well equipped, with a dining table & there is a large living room & 1 small "snug." The garden is sheltered and private.
With a village shop which doubles as a cafe + a local pub and a beautiful country location, we feel this will be an ideal home base for the area.
Approximately 10km away is the town of Milford Haven where Henry Tudor, later to become King HenryVII of England, landed. Along with French mercenaries he claimed to be rightful king of England and dated his reign from the day before the battle of Bosworth Field, which took place on August 22, 1485.....this way he could declare all who were against him traitors!
We spent our first visit to this town stocking up on groceries and essentials, but I'm certain that a more "in depth" visit will be made!

Marjie Don't get me started on Henry VII, the slitty-eyed, tight-fisted, money-grabbing, murdering usurper. If we see any statues of him, at least you know that I can't do any damage, being stuck in my pram :) However, be warned: I shall bend your ears, at length!!
