Woke up early enough for them to clean the room! Showered and left the room, they had a team of crack housekeepers flown in from Tokyo armed with industrial cleaning products and vacuums. We wished them luck and headed of into Den Den town. This area is famous for electronics of all types. Sean had found a shop selling retro video games like Nintendo 64 and older. He was itching to get an old school Game Boy but Marc and I talked him out of it. Sean wanted to go to Amemura (American Village) AGAIN so him and I walked up there from Den Den town. Marc decided to get one of the bikes from the hotel and meet us up there. Sean bought some cool Vans and a gizmo that clips on your guitar so you can tune it. Marc made it up there and is now an official Osaka bikie!
Makoto had booked an early dinner with his family as a farewell. A restaraunt called Outback Steakhouse which is an Aussie themed place that coincidentally Sean and I had been to in LA a few years ago. Great food and atmosphere. After dinner we got some directions from Makoto and headed to the Cerezo Osaka game. They play in Nagai in one of two stadiums depending on anticipated crowd size. Last year Marc and I went to the smaller of the two which is about the size of Bluetounge Stadium back home. The game last night was at the larger stadium which holds around 50K. By the time we got our tickets the game had just kicked off so the crowd was in full voice. As we came up into the inside to take our seats we were greeted with a sea of people and the noise was amazing, easily the best stadium we have been to in Japan. Unfortunately Cerezo lost 2-1 but it was a fantastic experience.
We jumped back on the subway to meet Makoto at Mystery Trip bar. He had organized to go to a new Karaoke bar recommended by another Mystery regular Ichi San. As usual we sung up a storm, Ryoko met us a bit later on and bought two Aussie guys one from Toowoomba the other from Parramatta who are teaching English in Japan. It wasn't long before the old Aussie standard Land Down Under by Men at Work was belting out of the speakers. The big surprise for us was how good Ichi San was. He doesn't speak English and truth be told doesn't say a lot in Japanese either, but wow can he sing. Real gravelly voice like Joe Cocker, he did What a Wonderful World and bought the house down.
Karaoked (if thats a word) for a couple of hours then said goodbye to Ryoko and her mates and headed back to Mystery Trip. We were trying desperatly to stay up to watch the champions league final but we were fading fast. We had two or three more beers and some cool snacks Makoto bought. Packed up stumps at 2am and headed back to the hotel, didn't even detour via Ippudo for Ramen.
