Glenn's Travels
Right, so, here I am in the capital of Malaysia - Kuala Lumpur. Since spending a couple of days in Penang, the group travelled to the cool (cold) Cameron Highlands. Nice quiet little area about 100m above seal level, hence the cold. It was the first time I was trousers since I left home. It wasn't too bad though. Had a great Indian meal on Saturday night, served on no less than a huge banana leaft. Was a very interesting experience to be getting stuck into my food with my hands, but it was a lot of fun, and it was a delicious meal. Yesterday was fantastic too. We spent about 4 hours trekking through the jungle, splashing in waterfalls and finding the largest flower in the world (Raphelesia or something like that). It was hard work and I sunk my entire foot into the mud more than once (damn my lack of balance or coordination of any kind), but it was awesome. It was the first time I wore trainers in over two weeks, and I was very glad to get them off at the end of the day. We also checked out an aboriginal village and had a go at the blow-pipe (I almost got it on target), and had a chance to meet with the locals. The people here are really friendly, which makes the experience that much better. We also had an amazing suite at the place we were staying, as all the other rooms had been taken. It was definately nice to live in a bit of luxury for a couple of days. But, as happens an awful lot, we had to be moving again just as we were getting comfortable. Which leads me here. A four hour drive (the bus driver was slightly physchotic, we feared for our lives in the windy cliff roads of the Cameron Highlands) brought us to Kuala Lumpur, in the Cardagon Hotel. From what I've seen so far, the city is tiny, but has loads in it, so tomorrow is going to be a busy day. Tonight will be a trip to chinatown and some clubbing (imagine that) and a nice meal out with the guys. Not long left of the tour, just a week, and I'll be sad to leave, but I'm certainly going to enjoy what's left.
