We arose on the Monday and de-pitched then headed North for about 30 k's……. then Rachel realised there were no mountains in the distance…… then we saw a sign for some place which was supposed to be East on our map. Oops guess my Map reading skills aren't that great. We headed back and realised the turn off was right next to the campsite, never mind. We carried on and reached the Cultural centre where we had a browse around. We then headed on to Halls Gap in the middle of the Grampions and popped into the Tourist information. They said the roads to the main area's were closed until they had been checked due to thunderstorms the day before. They said to come back after lunchtime to find out if the roads were re-opened. So we pottered round town then did a walk up one of the local mountains. Half way up we saw a waterfall, which was nice. We also saw a weird porcupine animal thing which was cool. When we finally made it to the top there were some spectacular sights around the Grampions. We ate our lunch on top and relaxed for a bit before heading down.
When we reached the bottom we headed back to the Tourist information to check whether the roads were open. We were told the main road to the popular sights was closed, but we could go the long way round to get there by going out the way an extra hour and all on gravel road…but we decided not to risk it with our little car! Instead we drove a little way out to a short waterfall walk which was nice. We then drove back out of the Grampions. We arrived quite early at a town called Hamilton and the campsite we'd seen advertised with free wifi. So we pitched up and had a catch up with getting our blogs up and researching. There was a nice TV room to sit in too with a film on to watch 'Elizabeth Town'.
