So I figured I'd start my travel journal here as it was kind of the start. Figured it would be a good time to try out this website. Getting my Working Holiday Visa for Germany. For this I had to go to Sydney for biometric reasons.

I took with my just a backpack and a folder with about 20 pages of documentation that I would need. I spent one night in a cheapish hotel in what turned out to be a bit of a backpackers area. Plenty of hostels and tourists wandering around and little places to eat. Was quite interesting to see the contrast between Sydney at 9pm on a Sunday night and Perth. Ugh.

Overall it was quite uneventful. I woke up early on Monday, had a fantastic breakfast at a little cafe down the road from my hotel and then caught the train to the harbour. Wandered around a bit, saw the bridge and opera house and then took the train to the German Consulate.

It all went smoothly. They wanted a couple more documents just to clarify some things, but I can email those, so no problem. Then it was just another train trip back to the airport.

Due to electrical issues the plane home was delay about an hour. And then just as we were about to take of the captain informed us that the plane that just took off ahead of us had hit a bird and they would need to make sure the runway was clear. Not sure how some scattered bird remains would be a problem but in any case that delayed it even further. But in the end I finally got home and the Visa is basically sorted.
