Venice, Italy.
We arrived in Venice early in the morning, ready for a nice long day looking around. After dumping our bags at the hotel, we set off to have a look at the islands of Venice, and found ourselves in a quiet island. It was really hot, but we managed a nice look around!
Eating our lunch by the water, it was very relaxing watching the boats go by. Well, I say lunch, but really I mean the three of us had lunch, and Erika had a giant marshmallow for her lunch (typical!)
We were surprised to find few gondolas around the area (probably because it was the quiet part of Venice) but eventually found two floating by the side. I thought I would have a go at my famous bartering skills with the gondola ride, but only managed a reduction from 20 euros per person to 15 euros per person. I kept pushing for 10 euros per person but the guy just wasnt having it!
The gondola ride was gorgeous and relaxing, weaving in and out of different streams. The 30mins was over very quickly.. In venice they use boats like we use buses, we also spotted water police and water ambulances!
Following the gondola ride, we caught a few bigger boats to take us to a different part of Venice, the busiest part, St Marks Square. When we got there, all we could see were hundreds of pigeons! It was such a busy part, the complete opposite to the first part of the day. So many people and pigeons!! You would think that since we live in London, we would be used to busy places but we were quite surprised!
We rounded off the day with a nice meal before getting our hotel bus back to our room. We were satisfied that one day was enough to look around Venice, and planned to set off in the morning for..... Bled, Slovenia.
Thats all for now! Love from Laura, Phils, Aliya and Erika!
