Milford Sound
I did a day trip to Milford from Queenstown, as everyone I have spoken to had said you have to see it! It was a 5 hour drive to get there followed by a 2 hour boat ride and then another 5 hours drive back! It was such a long day! We did see some cool things on the way though. We stopped at some waterfalls and did a few walks, and saw some of the most dangerous roads in New Zealand, which are at constant risk of avalanches! We actually saw a few sites which had suffered landslides just a weeks before! It was quite scary! The boat ride was really nice and Milford was beautiful , but completely submerged in mist. The weather wasn't the best, so I think with clear blue skies it would have been a completely different experience! I also think after seeing so much beauty in NZ you sort of get used to it around you all the time! The waterfalls were amazing, and so big it was had to get photos that did it justice! The whole journey felt like being in LORT, it seemed sort of spooky, as the water was black in some places from the shadows of the rocks! I would love to have done the Milford Track but they say it is not safe in winter! Also, I think the cold would have got the better of me, NZ is freezing! Overall, I had a really nice day, and I'm glad I took time out to see it!
