Auckland
I arrived in Auckland really late in the evening and went straight to the hostel which was miles away! It had been such a long day, because unknown to me when I checked in in Cairns to get to Sydney I was not going to be allowed to get all the way to New Zealand without written proof to when I was leaving the country! What a nightmare! I had to check in twice find the airline I was travelling with back to Oz and get written proof off them before heading over to the international lounge and checking in yet again for NZ!
Anyway the next day it was so cold and rainy, a bit shock to the system after coming from tropical Queensland, but it was quite a refreshing change. I walked around the entire city, checked out the harbour and went up the sky tower, which issaid to be the tallest tower in the southern hemisphere! It was pretty cool up there but you couldnt see much because of the bad weather. There were glass floors at the top which seemed to freak a lot of people out, which was quite funny to watch; noone would stand on the see-through floor without checking it out first with one shoe!
Overall, Auckland seemed pretty dull to be honest. I couldn't get my head round why most of the population of NZ live there, it really isn't all that! I was glad to be leaving after one day, and was really excited about starting my journey with Stray!
