Ginge's Travels
Hey everyone, we've just arrived in Byron Bay which is situated near the northern boundary of NSW and Queensland. It's pretty cool here, but very touristy so I'm not really feeling the vibe. We've have a pretty awesome road trip funnily enough... When we got to our hostel in Bondi Beach back in Sydney, we met a really cool Californian girl called Alex who just happened to be driving up to Brisbane the same time as us... after speaking with her for no longer than 10 minutes she asked me if we'd like to come with her to Brisbane as she'd enjoy the company!!! We thought about it and impulsively decided to do it! So on Monday morning at 10am we left Bondi in her retro '85 Ford Falcon and were road trippin' yet again!! Honestly, we didn't get particularly far the first day as we were constantly getting lost and pulling over for things like reptile parks! We stayed in this awesome backpackers campsite called Maleluka which was just a 30 second walk from One Mile Beach. We met some really cool people there including a German fisher who had caught an Octopus with his bare hands earlier that and was eating it for his dinner! We watched Wolf Creek, got scared and went to bed in the car and her tent. We woke up early the next morning, had a wake up swim (which didn't really work as the water was like a bloody bath!) and head off for one hell of a drive up to Coffs Harbour. We drove most of the day til we finally got there about midnight. We put the back seat down in her station wagon and all slept on the metal in the back! I got the short straw as there was only 2 sleeping mats and I was generous enough to offer not to have one... I slept with my travel pillow under me instead! BUT! I did have a surprisingly nice sleep! Anyway, today we drove some more and after swimming in a couple of beautiful "bath" bay beaches got to Byron Bay. Alex just left as we decided to use our travel passes from here to get the bus up to Brisbane tonight. But if she's reading this now... I'll e-mail you soon!!!!!!! Anyway, our bus leaves in 20 minutes and it's a 2 hour bus journey to Brisbane... we're just hoping we can get a hostel at that time!!!! I've got a load of pics, but my bag is in a locker right now and when I open it, I can't lock it again! Plus these computers are being pretty slow, so I think it'll take too long. I'll post again once I get to Brisbane, as we don't leave until Saturday evening, when we fly up to Cairns for the next 4 days. Not long now til I'm home, and I can tell everyone these stories and tales properly! Can't wait to see everyone, but I wish I could stay out here longer!!! Speak to ya'll soon, Love Love
