So, yesterday i had my bum touched by another man for the very first time - i think the most disturbing fact was that i paid hard earned cash for it! Yep thats right, Sar and I finally plucked up the courage, quashed our reservatiions and doused our prudishness to finally have one of the world renowned Thai massages ... well almost, when it finally came to it we pussied out of the Thai massage (where they throw you around and bend you into all sorts of unnatural shapes!!) and went for an oil massage. It lasted an hour and cost just over 4 quid each!!! The little area overlooked the turquoise sea of the idyllic island of Koh Lanta - yep, we have finally reached the infamous Thai Isles!!!
It is absolutely stunning here as you would expect. We had a lovely (but late) 2hr ferr journey from Krabi to here. We were picked up by a pick up in Krabi, where we had to jump in the back with a load of other people and bags!! It was so full, that the tail gate was open and i was sat at the back with nothing behind me, just ready to fall out!!! but was all good fun!! When we finally arrived, our accommodation didnt turn up to pick us up , so after being hassled constantly by the taxi touts for about half an hour, we had to give in and barter a price to get to our bamboo hut. The taxi was just a motorbike with a funny little cart thing attached to the side which was pretty fun!! They love the mopeds out here!!
Our bungalow is very basic but pretty charming, its about 30m from the beach with nothing impeding the sea view bar a couple of nice palm trees!! The beach is a long strip of golden sand, lapped constantly by the bath like temperature blue sea! At last!!!! SDespite being on paradise. we cant seem to shake off these thunderstorms, as both nights that we have been here so far it has absolutley poured down, and the lightning shows go on for about 4 hrs!! Quite cool to watch over the sea with a cold Singah in hand in our own little beachy gazeebo thing, part of one of the many bars on the beach!
Krabi turned out to be not so bad after we managed to sort everything out! We spent both nights chatting away to a lovely Irish couple Deirdre and Jonnie who we met on our minibus up form Malaysia! They are doing a similar route to us, so we will probably meet up with them on one of the other islands!
Today we rented a moped out again as we needed to get to the town to get some cash out, and it actually works out cheaper to rent a moped for half a day than to get a taxi there and back! It was good fun except for when a bunch of Thai kids threw water all over us as part of their festivities, whilst we were speeding past at about 50 kph!! We booked an elephant trek tomorrow in the jungle, which Sar has been pretty keen to do for ages now!! Should be good fun!
All for now
