I am currently sitting in the Kuala Lumpur International Airport. One of my dearest friends is coming to KL tomorrow, traveling all the way from South Carolina! I'm stoked to see a familiar face after being away from home 7 months now. Christmas & New Years with my girl is going to be the best!
After being in east Malaysia for 4 months I am now back to the big city, and what a relief. I have enjoyed the laid back, sweetness of a nonchalant attitude in Sabah, but I'm ready for a fast pace beat.
Growing up I practically lived at my grandparents farm. Their little town has all of 2 red lights. I enjoy going back there so much. I sit out in the daisy field, walk through the corn field, ride around in the 4x4 Gator, skeet shoot with my dad and then after a long day I eat my Mommo's worlds' best home-cooked country food.
And then I move to Madrid in 2009 and fall in love with the city life. I love walking everywhere, taking metros, meeting strangers in a churros shop, eating tapas, and spending all day in the parks. And here I am again in Asia, going back and forth from the country life to the city life. It makes me wonder where I'll be in the future. I enjoy both so much. I feel relaxed and at peace when I'm in the country but when I'm in a city I feel energized and inspired.
I was listening to India Arie earlier (she's my girl!!!) and some of her lyrics say "Just for today, I will not worry what tomorrow may bring, I'm gonna try something new, be who I am and I don't care who don't like it." So I've decided that is my new motto. I constantly want to think in the future, but just for today, I'm not going to worry about tomorrow, just enjoy today.
