10am day two. Slept a solid 6 hours much better than I'd expected, Marty had done a good job to make us all comfortable! Showered & changed, muesli for breakie & an earlyish start with the weather in our favour. Clear blue skies, we headed to a bike hire place & picked up a bike for €11 each
1pm first we grabbed a quick lunch from opposite the hire store, just about missing a down pour if hail which luckily passed just in time for us to start our ride in clear skies again, perfect timing!
2pm a round trip through a beautiful big parkland taking pictures & chatting, then all around the city with pit stops at the "I am sterdam", a huge science museum running up to the top of the steps, the harbour, a city windmill & a few other picture viewpoints. Amsterdam really is built for bikes, I've never had so much fun cycling, what a blast!
4pm we ducked in for coffee as the rain started to come down & then returned them when it cooled off. Towards the end & during our walk back to Marty's the sun went down & the city looked even more beautiful. My favourite time of day, I had to step back quite literally to take it all in. Pictures weren't doing justice but I sure took a lot of mental images!
6pm back at Marty's for a short while before heading out to dinner at a converted carpenter type restaurant with wood & saws as unique decor it added a nice touch :) never failing to impress, Marty's recommended pork satay dish was delish.
7.30pm time to try a coffee shop, I shared a pre rolled white widow with Liz, Josh, Livvy & Lars. The girls struggled to inhale, it was really only me & Lars that had any. I must have had over half to myself :| Being high by myself was not quite how I pictured it but it sure ticked it off my bucket list, probably never again though, it took me back to the time I had a spliff with Andy in the woods by his mums place. Not the best of fun! I sat in the cold recovering & quite frankly over my high waiting for it to pass. Lars clearly was in a world of his own, I'm not sure how he enjoyed it.. But I was fine, we walked it off back to Marty's & picked up a few space cakes on the way.
9pm pigging out on sweets & each sharing a hash cupcake we kicked back & watched a pretty awesome movie about a street cop (just like Marty!) called End of Watch & a few episodes of How I Met Your Mother. I tried the carrot like tasting space cake but Marty was the only one really who had enough to catch a bad case of the giggles!
2am bed time, and truly ready for it!
