We have awoken up in the beautiful Tuscan Hills of San Gimignano I think I am in love with this place. I keep thinking of the movie under the Tuscan Sun and I am really in the movie.
We had a lovely breakfast before heading into town to do the laundry. Even on holidays clothes have to be washed. Once done we head to Pisa.
Pisa was disappointing to say the least. Before even getting out of the car we are approached by Africans selling their fake wares anything from Prado handbags to sunglasses and watches.
We feel very uncomfortable but follow the crowds to the old city to see the famous Leaning Tower of Pisa.
Basically we take the photos do a quick walk around and head back to the car.
Been there done that took the photo and happy to leave.
Now we are back in San Gimignano we head to the medieval town and take in this wonderful place. The town dates back to the 1100's and sits high on the hills.
Lots of shopping to be done and we sit down and enjoy a couple of beers and a pizza while listening and watching a street band perform.
There are many people here Germans, French, Italians, Americans to name a few, the queues for gelato are long and it hot 35c.
Tonight we have dinner back at our hotel outside under the Tuscan moon.
We start with drinks out the front overlooking the city and hills then move out to the back patio for our dinner. Our waiter is also the bar man and the bag man a man of many titles. Brian has affectionally named him Manuel.
We enjoy a lovely dinner a bottle of wine and reflect on our day and holiday so far.
Tomorrow we leave for Rome and we say goodbye to our car which we will happier give back. Driving was a good idea but it has been hard work and a bit stressful at times but I don't think we would have got to this beautiful place without a car and for that I am very grateful.
