So the bus journey was a short 5 hours to Sihanoukville - the beach resort on the couth west coast. On the bus, Gill, Katie and i got chatting to a guy from Holland called Johas so he came with us in search of accomodation....we found the most amazing bungalows that were up a hillside - we had to walk up around 50 steep steps to get to it but by golly it was cute - it was really a little love shack for two people - there was a pink and blue towel and no door on the bathroom! ha but we survived. Gill and i in one bungalow and katie and johas in the one next door - on opening the door of our bungalow we had our own little balcony with table and chairs and a hammock. It was dark when we arrived so didnt really get to see our view - would have to wait until morning! That night after getting ourselves settled, we headed down to beach, had a bbq and chilled!
There is not much really to tell about Sihanoukville apart from how beautiful it was. waking up the next morning we had the most amazing view out over the bay - we could see blue sky, blue sea and white sand aaaahhhhhhlife is sweet! We pretty much spent every day onthe beach sunbathing and having the occassional dip in the sea. we would go home shower and then head out for the night where we had a bbq (pretty much every night) and would then sit at one of the bars on the beach in a massive big comfy dome chair that u can curl up in (like they sell in Pier!) Our friends Dan, Rich and Karen were in town for a few days so we had a late night with them which was awesome. Every day was nice and sunny except one where it rained all day - we went to the cinema that day which was a nice change. We are getting through so many books this holiday which makes a nice change for both of us who aren't big readers at home.
Thursday 30th - we had to get up early this morn - 6am as we had a bus to catch at 8 but we needed to pack (couldnt do so the night before because there was a power cut) and we wanted to grab brekkie before the bus journey to phnom penh, where we change buses for Siem Reap.
Sihanoukville was fab - just what we needed - a few days tp relax and soak up the sun!
