We decided to head West and hook up with Clive, Gail & Owen to see in the New Year of 2014. We didnt leave until 6.30pm as we had both been working. Once again the weather in the World's Number One Holiday Destination was utterly appalling. Grant was driving and did a good job despite the howling wind and torrential rain. We got to Chez Scragg circa 8pm and pretty much hot footed it straight into the promiscuous debauchery of Sin City Aberaeron. Firstly we headed into the Cadwgan and caught up with Ma, Pa, Graham & Wendy....who had all been hitting the Champagne prior to our arrival. A fancy dress party was in full flow. There was a local "Artiste" singing songs in there but it got a bit loud. The Fancy Dress Mob then headed off to their party down to The Hive.
We then headed to see Sir James Dalton Esq, Landlord of The Black Lion. It was a bit quieter in there for a while but the singing soon started. The Big Screen was pulled down and the London New Year Party was broadcast. Okay if you like Barry Garlow.... Big Ben's chimes eventually tolled and everyone hooked up for Auld Lang Syne...... We then messed about taking photo's and finally left at about 1.30am, courtesy of Mitch's Taxis. We did have a libation back at the ranch but turned in around 3.00 am....not bad by our usual standards.
It was a late start on New Year's Day........but at least the weather was ok.....blue skies but a cold chill. We said our goodbyes to our hosts Gail & Clive and headed first into Aberaeron for a quick bracing walk, then began the drive back home. The weather changed rapidly and once again it began to pour down. Welcome to yet another shade of grey in The World's Number One Holiday Destination.
