Trivandum had proved to be a fine place to explore and we did it in style using the tuk tuks, here there was no pointless haggling and meters were turned on straight away. The sun came out and all was well. we'd seen swarmi's and guru's down at the temple, street madness, the lot. After being turned away from the temple we looked at "things to do in trivandrum"...it said a must visit was Pizza corner....a meeting place of East and West where surprises await...and had been voted number 1 tip top by residents of the city. Nearly everyone we asked knew of this exciting place but no one could tell us where it was......but everyone was more than helpful, getting on their mobiles and asking people to get on the net to find out where this place was....half of india must have been googling Pizza Corner, Trivandum. Someone struck lucky and beat everyone else by finding the address and so we jumped in the tuk tuk and eventually found this tip top number 1 place. I was expecting a huge complex full of culinary delights from across the world....it turned out to be a carbon copy of a small Pizza Hut. What made it more remarkable was that the people of Trivandrum had all got so excited when we asked them about it. We then struck gold and found the cultural centre, with museums and a Zoo..and very good it was , they even had hippos in there.
Later that evening while sheltering from the rain back in paradise, we met Sam. Sam was a New York born Tamil who spoke the lingo and spent his time mostly in NY City. Sam was great, he was loud and brash and took a shine to us. He introduced us to his new bride who barely raised a smile. Aye Aye, thought I, there's chalk and cheese if ever I saw it. Also in attendance was an intermediary relative who was expressionless. I had a thought that this could possibly be an arranged marriage. Sam told us a place where to get beer later in the evenings as paradise was getting weirder and weirder. When you ordered a beer it was now coming to you wrapped in newspaper, poured in a coffee cup and the bottle would then be hidden under the table.
Later that evening we saw Sam in the place he said you could get beer. We sat on a different table away from Sam, the intermediary and the blushing bride. Sam had hinted that things werent exactly sweetnes and light earlier on. Sam's bride was also finding the new arrangements hardly ideal either and we had an inkling of this when she threw a plate of food at Sam and stormed out of the restaurant screaming blue murder.

David Dodd Mate, What a trip..! You fella’s are in need of a Jimmy’s Kitchen special lunch......leave it to Charlie and I. What dates are you scheduled to be in HK?......are you passing through Singapore, if so, you might look up Tim Horsley, I have forwarded him the blog detail. Stay safe, enjoy the rest of the trip....
Gareth Gibbs I read that Jayne said you’re off to Singapore next, does that mean you’re missing what was once called Madras? of (Royal) Enfield fame? Sadly your missives have somewhat put me off India. I certainly couldn’t travel that way by train the way you two did. Love from Pa.
Ma Gibbs I want to know if you tried to get your rebate on your train ticket. Perhaps they’ll offer you a free ride back! Hope you enjoy this brief respite. Luv Ma XXXXXX
Ma Gibbs OOps, sorry, I missed the last blog about your rebate. I loved the story!
