Country number 10!
We arrived in Auckland on the 7th, when we got here it was bloddy cold, wet & windy. Very lucky to land as it was so bad. As soon as wewent through arrivals all flights were cancelled....But we landed safely so thats all that matters.
We had to hang around the Airport to sort oursleves out with accommodation and ended up getting a last minute deal for a hotel room for 2 nights. It turned out to be quite nice really. Yesterday we spent hours roaming thr streets looking for backpacker places to look at notice boards with cars 4 sale on. No luck as of yet but we will be looking at one in the next hour which is cheap and can accommodate this stupid surf board. We havent seen to much of Auckland , our plan is to see the sights when we arrive back in Auckland in Dec. Once we have got our transport issues dealt with we will head north on the west coast.
So we are OK...just getting our footing in New Zealand before we start our new adventures. Today was a funny Kodak moment, standing on the corner of a busy street, backpacks on, Amy reading from the New Zealand Lonely Planet, holding a small rucksack covered in flags and me holding a surf board. Cliche travellers eh? Especially when we got directions from an American.
We will let you all know how we are getting around N.Z when we know....
Its now around 6 hours later since we wrote the previous, WE ARE NOW MOBILE! We bought a Mitsubishi Chariot 4wd. Its a awesome specimen of a vehicle. Cost $700 but worth a LOT MORE. Needs a ruddy good clean by Amy, she is really looking forward to it actually. We are very happy with Spartacus
