We are here and armed with my surfing gear!
For those who were taking bets on whether I would successfully get my board from Singapore, I am shocked in your lack of faith
So we are in Sydney now. We arrived 19:00 on the 19th. We were met by Emily & Rob and are now in there house relaxing with a cup of tea and English Muffins.
When we flew from Hanoi to Singapore we arrived 01.30 on the 18th. We new that we would have to spend several hours in the Airport as we couldnt check into our hotel till 09.00. We headed straight to McDonalds and consumed a Big Mac meal each, it was a strange feeling to be full after a meal. We tried our best to find some where to get our heads down but the only place that was available was the cold marble floor so we got about an hour each. We decided in the end not to go to our hotel as we had booked into a tiny backpackers in a 8 bed mixed dorm room. It was expensive so we decided to go hardcore and survive in the Airport. Plus when you arrive in these backpacker places you have no chance going to sleep till midnight as its really loud staying in dorms, and we would have to get up 5am anyway to get back to the Airport for check in at 6am. Wise decision in the end. After another meal in McDonalds the same morning, sausage and egg McMuffin meals, oh yeah, we hung around the Airport till noon. We placed our back packs in left luggage and went out to venture a little around Singapore again. It was good to see some of the places we visited 3 months ago where we started our South East Asia journey. We headed back to the Airport at 5pm and stopped off along the way to pick up my surf gear from the guest house we stayed at 3 months ago. It was a huge relief to see it still there.
Originally we were hanging out in Terminal 2, we were departed out of T3 so we grabbed our stuff and moved over there. It was huge and we were lucky as we were allowed to check in around 10pm so we got rid of all our luggage and went through to the departure lunge. We soon found a quite area with comfy sofas and went straight to sleep. Around 2am Amy was woken up by the Military police, carrying huge guns, asking for boarding passes. It must have been a funny site for them as she had her eye mask on and ear plugs sticking out. I was fast a sleep with a sarong over my head, where open the Police guard asked for her sisters boarding pass!! I woke up to this and pulled it off my head, he was shocked to see this hairy man. It was funny, they were really friendly and laughed and apologised. I dont how I came across as a female, need to change my sleeping position I guess? Anyway we slept till 7am , had a coffee and used the free net there and departed 09.30 on Singapore Airlines. The airport was amazing and the flight was very good. We a spare seat next to us so we could spread out and relax.
It took a bit of time getting through customs and such in Sydney Airport. We declared that we has soiled shoes and a knife on us so we wouldnt end up with any charges. In the end Amy had both her shoes taken away for steam cleaning. She apologised to the customs official as they stank! ha.
So we made it! Very happy to be here. Emily and Rob have made us feel right at home. Both of us had a great sleep, 1st time in a long time. Today we will go and explore a little. We will get a new Sim Card today so we will let everyone know the new number shortly.
Today we had an email from offexploring. One of our pictures of Ankor Wat has been chosen to be added to their Library of photos, we are now famous. So when people write a blog about Ankor Wat and have no picture of their own to add to it ours is now an option.....
