Yesterday we had our first day of doing nothing and it flew by annoyingly! It was lovely just to chill on the beanbags around the pool and attempt to catch a tan despite it being so very hot! We've had very usually good weather for Cambodia with most days being clear blue skies.
Last night we boarded the "hotel" bus which meant beds instead of seats although the beds weren't quite long enough and it's lucky me and Frankie are friends as it definitely encouraged invasion of personal space! Obviously the on board wifi and tv didn't work and with the lights being switched off as soon as we left meant a night of listening to music and enjoying the view of the Cambodia countryside at night. Not that I'm complaining, it was nice to chill out.
It was very eye opening when we stopped at a shack shop and toilet half way through the night because the bus didn't have a toilet! There were people living in the middle of no where sleeping on hammocks in the open air and it definitely made us feel sad for them whilst getting back onto the hotel bus.
We arrived at seven this morning and got a tuktuk to Don Basco School and Hotel where we are staying and it is run by a German man and his English wife. The site is a school providing free training for underprivileged Cambodian young adults. They are trained in different trades from welding to hospitality and the staff in the hotel are students in training. A majority of the room rates also goes towards the training of the students whom are the sweetest and most grateful people I've ever met.
We've just chilled out again today, bought our boat tickets for tomorrow and had a swim and jump on the trampoline! Of to the paradise island of Koh Rong tomorrow and we are both so very excited.
