After a sad departure from Chengdu leaving everyone behind :( I took my first train in china!! Given our Thailand experiences with the train I was nervous as to how hot it would be seeing at it was a casual 37 degrees on Chengdu when in left.
Fortuntalely it was ac and so I arrived in Xian in dry clothes... Success. I also made friends with a lovely Chinese lady who ensured I got off the train!!
The first people I met here were lauren and eadoin and so we all decided to go and see the terracotta soldiers together. I have to say thy were amazing. Lots of photos were taken under the guidance of our cazy tour guide lady yaya who kept advertising her single lady status to all and any man. She seemed to take a liking to lauren as at the end she got a mini terracotta soldier and lots of free coffee vouchers which I was very jealous of.
The next day we spent in the Muslim quarter wandering around and eating different foods on sticks which is always fun. Some were rather suspect but we stayed away from all chicken feet and other feet... Who knew feet were so eadible?!?!
On saturday night the girls in my dorm, Lindsay, renata and reanna along with French germ from across the hall decoded it was time for a ladies night and so headed to the fountain show. Essetially it's a music lights and water being spurted in fancy ways but I was such good fun!! Lindsay and I decided to join the throngs of chinese people running around in the fountains. I somehow got sprayed in the face by a jet on the ground?!?! We then wondered round being the local tourist attraction for all the Chinese, we reckon we should start charging for photos. One lady gave her baby to renata and happily started clicking away!! We then returned to the hostel to claim our free beer... One per night!
Yesterday we said a sad goodbye to renata and reanna but as I am leaving today to Beijing it wasn't too bad having the room empty out for just one night. But yeh, I'm now off to Beijing tonight to see izzy!!
