The Monkey Goes Travelling
Well where do I start! Can't remember what I last told you all!!!
Right..........................
On the erm.... what day are we on! Wednesday was a crazy day! We were going to go and see the floating markets in Bangkok and the river Kwai but we soon found out that these are on opposite sides of Bangkok and would have taken 50 mins to each one!
So in the end we had a wonder round in the morning, and went to see our happy smiley travel agent! He was able to fit us into a mini bus taking us to the River Kwai on a day trip! We did not realise that this tour also included a trip to a Tiger Temple! This place was so much fun!!! We walked through this nature reserve past all sorts of animals. I went into the wrong toilets that I think were meant only for the monks and a Lizard jumped on my shoulder and ran down my back! I was so scared!!! I was so glad to see the fact that it was a lizard not a spider or worse a monk!!!!! I named him Mr Lizard (just for you Phil)!!!!!!
After walking through the wilderness, we saw a monk sat in a wooden hut and started talking to him. He walked us the tiger canon, and then found out that he was the founder of the whole project!!! There were 17 tigers there in total and one of the females was pregnant which is nice. The monk gave us special treatment and Ellen got the money shot, Tigers head in lap (it was alive) and monk stood next to her! Wow! I did feel that the tigers were a bit too quiet and think that they may have been given something to make them that sleepy! But with having no prior experience with tigers I would not know!!!! The tiger temple web page is..... (http://www.tigertemple.org/Eng/)
We then went off to the river, I really didn't like walking over the bridge I got a bit dizzy half way over as you can see right through it and it has no hand rails. Health and safety is really not an issue here, about 50 people all on the bridge at one time, pushing to get through!!! Madness. That night we went to see a real Thai Boxing match. Not sure I liked this much but if you are going to do it any where you are best doing it in Bangkok! After that back to the inn for a good nights sleep, where I got bitten to death by ants! How rude of them!
The next day was a fantastic day. We went to the Bangkok Hilton, the Bangkok central prison! We visited a guy from the south of England that had been put away for 50 years for dealing drugs over the border!!! He had only served 12 of his years! We sat and chatted for about 30 mins on a phone that was behind a piece of glass and 2 sets of railings! So I was pretty safe! It was hard hearing the tales of how he is treated over here. We have said that we are going to write to him and might even go and she him before we fly to Oz, help pass the time!!! But will tell you all when I see you!
That night we got onto a bus that took us to Chiang Mai. This took 12 hours, but was very comfortable and had some sort of air conditioning! It dropped us off at a lovely place called the Nice Place 2. It costs us 1.50 pounds a night and it was a gorgeous pool! We spent the day today by the pool so you can now guess what colour I am! Starting to look more like a traveler! Tomorrow we have booked to go on a 3 day trek to Pia, which is meant to be the best place to go trekking in the north. Here we do three days of walking! Oh my god why I am doing this walking up a mountain in 39 degree temperatures, I think i am mad! Anyway we get 2 nights in Thai family homes on the second day we got elephant riding and wash them down and the third day get to ride down the river on bamboo rafts! yey !!!!!!!
Anyway I hope you are all well, I now need to go back to my room and get an early night well ish as it's already 10:45 pm!!!!! Email me soon, it would be great to hear from you all xxxxx
Love you xxxxx
