The terrible twins big adventure..
at the moment am sitting in an internet cafe in Chaweng which is the central town of Ko Samui...alot of you will probalby be thinking what on earth is she doing in a horrible place like that but we thought we had to see it, plus its really close to our school, just a short ferry ride.
Quick update on the past week...VALENTINES DAY... there we were getting all depressed about the fact that the three of us were to face val day alone in the middle of nowhere when along came on offer we couldnt refuse...the local stav, "pop"...yes..thats his name turned up and told us he was taking us to his aunts restaurant (when i say restaurant..in thai that is translated to local shack on the side of the road that serves chicken feet with noodles !!) so we went along and i dont think i have ever laughed to hard in my life. this guy did not speak a word of english so we sat for the whole meal in silence while he tried to spurt a few random english words such as "manchester"...v strange... the funniest thing is when he tried to order in english instead of asking for friend prawns he asked for "fried porn" hysterical !!!..anyway that was val day. the rest of the week was pretty quiet. we went to a few of the parents houses and experienced proper poverty cooking. the thai green curry was made with pork fat rather than chicken and it would not be at all suprising to find a chicken neck or a fish eye in there somewhere...the wierd thing is though is that i have got completely used to it. If you know me at all you will know that i hate being dirty, i hate bugs, i hate horrible lights (wierd thing i know ) however, just a couple of weeks out here has really toughened me up. nothing really scares me out here. its amazing how quickly your intuition kicks in when you think that something is a bit dodgy. the girls and i do look out for eachother alot and you quickly get used to carrying your passport everywhere and always locking your bag etc...
anyway, the week passed quickly due to our excitement about the weekend away...
ko samui- arrived yesterday, early evening to find that our room was in completely the wrong side of the island and was also 1000 baht (..dont know how much that is but i think its quite alot) for a dingy bungalow so we quickly escaped and made our way to Chaweng (centre of Ko samui) it was amazing. when you look past all the dirty english men picking up thai hookers its actually a pretty cool place. amazing street market and loads of restaurants. we booked into a v smart hotel with air con, and a hot shower- sounds silly, but it really is luxury compared to what we live in) and decided we would go and find ourselves some proper meat ( meat as in food wise !!!!!!!!!!!!) went to v nice restaurant and then found ourselves in a "cabaret" bar- aka a drag show !! was the funniest thing seeing lady boys dressing their huge muscly shoulders into little skimpy underwear and singing robbie williams "angels " ...not attractive in the slightest but damn funny. met some american guys and played pool till 4 am.
anyways, thats pretty much it for today. hope all's well. ames is coming out in a week and a bit which will be awesome. were heading back to krabi next weekend though because we have made friends there and its quite a fun place to go.
love you all, hope all's well xxxxxxxx
