George's World Travels
So we're back home!
I still havent got my head around what Ive done in the last 6 months and I think itll take quite a while for reality to sink in.
So far things have been great since being home. Ive spent quite a bit fo time with my family, getting to know my new baby brother Jack, whos now amazingly 3 months old. Hes gorgeous. Loves copying your silly facial expressions, like a suprised look, or sticking your tounge out. Soph came around the other day and really took to him. Very sweet.
Holly is now almost two. Shes got an amazing vocabulary! When I left she had maybe 10 words. Now she speaks in sentances! Among her favourite games, bouncing, falling down, reading (she starts stories 'once upon a time', with not much else happening-very sweet!!) and playing in her kitchen-cooking a cake to give each of us a yummy piece.
Charlotte is doing ok. Good days and bad days. But compared to how she was when I left shes doing much better, happier to go out and do things. Mum got her a portable dvd player for her (18th!!!!! yeh how time flies!) birthday, with she LOVES. Bambi is a big favourite at the moment.
So....the rest of our trip. Los Angeles? It was pretty good. sadly the flight was an absolute nightmare, coming from Cairns (via Sydney) to LA. We arrived before we left! Crazy! I was very ill on the flight and consequently threw up in the last few hours, and then again in the taxi. Seriously not fun. As was the US customs inspection. Christ! Took what felt like forever. Besides all the normal stuff we now have to give finger prints from both hands and have an eye scan.
The day we arrived was pretty much ruled out. We were both so shattered, and I ha to sleep to avoid being sick. Consequently, neither of us got used to american time, as wed slept through most of Monday. This pretty much meant very limited sleep for the next 5 days, if we wanted to see LA at all.
And we did. First stop Universal Studios. Really fun day. We went on the Jurassic Park ride like 5 times. (the parks water ride, includes a very big drop!) we decided to get a front line pass (seriously good value for money) and so went on as much as we wanted.
Venice beach another day. I got another braid, like the one I had done years ago when I went to LA after winning a school competition. Yeh nice day. Good weather. (Which by the way I can not say for UK! What happenend?! It seems the minute we get back, after weeks of great sunny weather, it decides to rain.)
And then the best day of all, going to San Diego Zoo to see their polar bears! As you may have seen from the pics, they were gorgeous, and we pretty much got a shot of them at every angle possible! Chilli loved seeing her friends, and M was overjoyed (given we didnt see any in Brisbane due to camera dying on us) Great last day.
I hope youve enjoyed all our pictures and postcards from our travels.
Ive decided to keep this webiste going while Im at Uni. Let oyu guys know what Im up to, and hopefully for future travels. Next big one is Peru next summer. But until then theres Venice with Becky and Nicky from 1st to 5th September.
