This is my final blog entry abroad and I'm writing it from Singapore Changi Airport, using the free internet facilities. It's probably the swankiest airport I've ever been to and I've just gone mental in Duty Free (though most of the stuff I've bought has been on behalf of others). But I now possess the ingredients to make White Russians at bargain basement prices...
So we did our sightseeing today, heading first on the MRT to Chinatown and soaking up the atmosphere before going to the Colonial District. Had a look at Raffles Hotel, ate lunch at some kind of American themed diner (very authentic I know but we could vaguely justify it by passing it off as a tribute to American Thanksgiving) and then wandered to the Asian Civilisations Museum for a couple of hours. After that we chilled out by the Boat Quay, watching the bumboats chug up and down the river and reflecting generally on our trip/analysing the character traits we won't be missing in each other! The holiday nearly ended on quite a sour note... Once we'd done there we headed off to the airport and now we're just killing some time before our flight.
I'll not reflect on the whole trip now, I think I'll save that for a retrospective entry from the comfort of the sofa at HFG. But before I go, one last quote of the day: "I think that's the first time Peter Gabriel's Sledgehammer has ever been sung in an exhibition of Islamic art."
See you in the morning x x x
