We've arrived in the Northern Territory now, flying up to Alice Springs this morning to go on our tour of Uluru tomorrow. It's been a bit of a nothing day really as we've spent the majority of our time travelling or waiting to travel.
Alice Springs looks nothing like anything we've seen in Australia so far (it's arrid and orange) which is great. However, it is very remote and essentially just a jumping off point for excursions to Uluru or King's Canyon so there's not a lot happening. The town itself is in the middle of nowhere and very small, though they've still managed to get a Pizza Hut and a Subway. And there are loads of aboriginal people here (I don't even know if that is the PC term, if not I apologise) which is a real culture shock. Even though Britain is a multi-cultural society, there really isn't any equivalent race back at home - as a group they just seem so different. And it's quite inspiring that these two completely different cultural groups can co-exist in the same small town without massive friction.
Anyway, in summary, there's not a lot to report today. Our hostel is crap but we are only here for one night. I'm going to go get some rest now because we're being picked up at 6am tomorrow for our three day/two night tour to see the big red rock! I'll be back to civilisation on Friday so I'll update this then.
Love and miss you all xxx
