We've arrived on the South Island! It involved getting up at stupid o'clock to get the ferry across the Cook Strait, which didn't go down at all well with Jim. But the journey was really pretty, travelling through the Marlborough Sounds.

We got back on the Magic Bus from Picton to Nelson, where we are now. On first impressions the South Island seems really beautiful and more impressive than the North in terms of scenery. We wound around densley forest mountains to get here and it's meant to get more spectacular the further south you go.

Not really had chance to check Nelson out properly yet but it seems very quiet! But then there are only one million people on the whole of the South Island - that's just mental!
