(The photo is not mine!)
What a long way from the UK! I left on Monday at 10.48 from Clifton Down train station. I stopped off in Reading to see my sisters new house and then went on to Heathrow for my flight at 19:00hrs. This flight then got me into Joberg at 07:12. I slept for all of about 2hrs. Not enough! My flight to Nam wasn't until 13:20 so my love beds made out of airport benchs has grown! Once on the plane I was handed a piece of paper called 'Arrival/Departure form' I needed to tell customs who I was, who I was staying with, how long I was going to be there, how much money I was going to spend etc. This was fine other than they wanted to know the address which, even though Dad had reminded me to do so, I had not written down. Opps! Moral of the story, always listen to your Dad! This was actually fine as she kept my passport. I went through customs to Rachael who wrote the address on and then I went back and picked up my passport etc. It also gave me something to do whilst I waited for my bag to come through. I did think that actually I probably could have made one up but wasn't going to risk it this early on. Aulden (Rachael's husband) did confirm I could have done this and 'Independance Road' would have been a good place to start!
Last night we went out for a lovely meal and I then crashed at about 10pm. Perfect!
Today has been mainly shopping and sorting out for the road trip that Rachael and I (joined by Aulden at a later date) are going to take. I am so looking forward to this and will hopefully come back with lost more stories to tell and lots of photos.
Until then....
