So, arrived in Hue and not the best of starts. I think the number of people bugging you is the worst so far, all trying to get you to go to their hotels and get moto rides...GO AWAY!!!
After getting my train ticket sorted for the next day I got myself a hotel and relaxed, not the nicest but its fine and has wifi/air con etc. Luckily there was a nice wee backpackers bar across from me so I went in there to have a wee beer and cool down. Its obviously a famous one and no wonder, the staff are great and the people are friendly.
Went out for some food later and bumped into an aus couple I met on the bus and Irish couple I met in Nha Trang and Ha Noi so we sat chatting about their travels around Laos and Cambodia which sound just amazing (Joolz I'm SO jealous!). The next day I had planned to meet the aus couple but they were too hung-over so I just grabbed a wee cyclo man who would take me out for $2 per hour for a tour.
It was the hottest day they had for a while at 38-40C so we were both soaked with sweat but it is a beautiful city so we bashed on…don't know how he done it! We went round a few pagodas and sights before stopping at the citadel, it is 55k to get in but absolutely amazing - see pics - so you must go see it!
After 3 hrs he dropped me home where I was able to shower before my next bus to here (Hanoi). Luckily the journey here was much much better, got a couple of hours sleep despite the crazy roads.
Looking forward to a nice cold beer in a few hours but first I'm off exploring, hope this isn't too boring but it's a good way for me not to forget my amazing time in Vietnam!
Loads of pics uploading so hopefully you will get a wee look later.
Speak soon
