View looking up at the fabulous ceiling on L'Opera Galleries Lafayette. Went there on the last day in Paris. Paris is a great city. Food wonderful. The people are generally very friendly and helpful. Musee D'Orsay, the Orangery, Notre Dame, cathedral of St. Michel, boat on the Seine. Day visit to the Chateau de Versailles and it's wonderfully ordered gardens. View for near the top of the Centre Pompidou. Another one of those galleries with 5 floors & 2 levels of art. The modern art was fabulous - but where is it all. 20th century artists - Francis Bacon, Kandinsky, Klee, Matisse ... Off the Louvre after lunch. Confusing place get around. At least full of totally wonderful pieces. Amazing ancient Egyptian & Greek things. Went out for a drink and to collect washing - even on holidays domestics can intervene....

Monet's garden at Giverny. Negotiating the Paris Metro & buying train tickets with limited French. Monet's garden fabulous. Walked over the famous green bridge - wondering wether it's like my father's axe story. The whole area is very picturesque. To a Carrefour - French type small supermarket - for evening meal in room.

Looking up towards L'Opera. We chose L'Open Tour buses in Paris, though there is BigBus too. Went for the booked dinner at the Eiffel Tower - 58 Eiffel. Fantastic. Walked along the Seinne taking night photos - then taxi rest of the way.

View from the room window. Caught the Eurostar from St. Pancreas railway station to Paris Gare du Nord. Short taxi ride to the Hotel Montpensier with its tiny one person lift. The Louvre turns to out be only 5 minutes walk away. There is something to be said for bookings.com & Tripadvisor. Walk along the ordered garden ways and the Seinne river.
