5TH -Â 12TH APRIL 2007
We loved the place!-Really nice town with an esplanade, lagoog, plenty of activities for teh day and loads of bars for the nights!Highlight had to be xtreme! white water rafting down the Tully river which was world class!!Bar when it flipped kym managed to stay inside the boat cos she was 'the best'/not sat at the front without the foot grips. We had Surita, a girl from London and a group of Aussie lads from Melbourne in our raft so it turned out to be a quality laugh.Other day trips included taking a skyrail up to Kuranda which gave us spectacular views of the rainforest, and a boat trip out to the Barrier Reef where visibilty turned out to be a lot better than expected (cos of the bad weather). There was more reef than in Thailand but a lot of it was bleached and dying so reckon we got there 10 years too late. Still got to see turtles and reef sharks tho which made Kym happy cos she missed them in Thailand. Also went on a day trip up to Cape Tribulation where the rainforest meets the reef, which included a croc cruise on the Daintree river, a jungle board walk, swimming at Mossoman Gorge and a few hours in Port Douglas. The driver really knew his stuff and Kym esp loved Port Douglas but one day was probably enough (it was raining pretty much non stop all day)
One of the nights I brought out my County A pool skills and came 2nd in killer pool (out of 25) and no they werent blind, just missing out on winning a free bungy jump. I blame Kym-if she gave me more practice I'd have had it in the bag!I reckon its only fair she pays for my jump in NZ.What you reckon?
Went on the 'Frog and Toad' bar crawl on the Wednesday, which after several drinking games involving carrots, bungee ropes and various positions got pretty messy!
Bar all that we went out for drinks at night, chilled out a couple of days and tried to avoid looking at our bank balances!!!
