Left Broome this morning at 8:45am travelled 650 klms and are staying at Halls Creek tonight and tomorrow night. It's burning off season up here and today we came closer to it than we have been. We didn't have many detours today but we did call into a roadside park just 500 metres up a track and across a ford to use the toilets and to our amazement there was about 20 caravans taking advantage of the free park for the night, they get in early to secure their position, about 3ish.
There was also an aboriginal woman and her 5 kids fishing in the pool at the ford. We are deep in Aboriginal country and saw several groups just sitting on the side of the road in one area, remote from any township. Not much further on we had an Aboriginal man walk out on the road in front of us but he had run out of petrol and wanted us to give him some but couldn't help because we only have diesel. There are a lot of Aboriginal lands up this way and you need permission to travel through them. We are sticking to main highways so we can get accomodation but we will have a few off road ventures in between. Tomorrow we are heading down the Tanami Desert road to Wolf Creek to see the meteor crater.
