We spent some time this afternoon at the information centre at Normanton where we met a very helpful guy named Chris. He told us some history about the area. The building was built by Burns Philp, general traders in the late 1800s, it was the largest in Australia and provided the miners with supplies during the gold rush at Croydon Qld. Tonight we celebrated Terry's birthday

Yesterday we were out of range but we stayed at Adeles Grove, what a beautiful place! It was a hot day, 35 degrees plus and it felt like an oasis when we arrived. We found the camping area covered by a canopy of trees along side Lawn Hill Creek. There were stands of giant bamboo gums, ficus and fine leafed canopy trees. Woke up this morning to a flapping tent and the sound of the first plane taking off, the airport is only 1 block away. Dust blowing everywhere, so I'm having my breakfast in the car! hope the day improves temperature expected to reach 35 today.
