Today was spent chilling, just reading and writing, it's so nice to just be able to veg out and not feel guilty about it or have to worry about all the jobs that you should be doing. (not that I ever did them anyway)
We received an email from Emma and Dan who we had met on the train and given a copy of our schedule to. They said that their plans had changed and they were now staying at the hostel we were going to next in Shanghai, and did we want to meet up. I thought it was a little freaky but also quite nice. I was looking forward to being reunited and sharing some stories as if they were old friends even though we barely knew them. Eventually it was time to get our plane so we caught the airport shuttle. After the bus had left I realised my favourite hat was still on it. It was a real quality leather cowboy hat and I have taken it on my travels for years. I was gutted. Then they announced our plane would be delayed. Although this was not a surprise. China has just been in the news for having the worse record in the world for flights leaving on time. More flights are delayed than leave on time. To fix the problem the powers that be are introducing a new rule that says that all flights must leave on time whether they have clearance or not. So they might top the league for going on time but they might have to make a new league for planes dropping out of the sky. I was glad we had been delayed instead, especially as all the other flights delayed were getting free Pepsi and ice cream. After about an hour there was no sign of any ice cream. I decided to do some writing, I was still sulking about my hat. Then my pen broke! Aaahhhhh
Eventually we were taking off and 2 hours later we arrived in Shanghai. We caught the last bus nearest our hostel and eventually arrived at 3am. Waking the receptionist asleep on the floor we got our key and slumped into bed.
