Went for a ride around the city wall today. I though it was better than the Great Wall. It was a great view from on top you could clearly see the old city inside the walls with all the small old traditional buildings, surrounded by the contrasting modern sky scrapers on the other side of the wall. It was a 14km ride which they said should take over 2 hours, we did it in 1.15 and stopped loads for drinks and photos. I felt pretty pleased with myself till I realised most of the other people doing it were about a hundred.
There's one thing I don't get about these City's like Canterbury that put so much effort into building these great defensive walls to keep the riff raff out, then you go there and there's just as many waifs and strays inside the wall as outside. When I'm mayor of Canterbury my first job will be to reinstate the archers and fill the moat. The rest of the day we chilled in the hostel. I took advantage of their computers to get a few blogs done but it took hours and I kept losing my work due to the rubbish connection. A couple of English guys sat next to us so I introduced myself and tried to start up a conversation but they were so rude and pretty much just blanked me. I don't get why these people come so far to get new experiences then are so reluctant to meet new people. They were posh w***ers anyway.
