Today we embark on a 3 day 4x4 tour of the Altiplano Region of Bolivia. Day one we explore the salt flats. A huge expanse of white as far as the eye can see. After leaving La Paz we endure a 10 hour bus journey to our next stop, Potosi. I would normally be fine with this but today I have a stinking head cold and the bus has no toilet and the air con is broken. Very soon you feel like an over ripening banana in a hot box. Reached Bolivia about 6 days ago. First 3 days spent in Le Paz, the 'cultural capital' of Bolivia. The highlight was the bike ride down the Death Road, it's real name is the North Yungas Road. A 61 kilometre stretch leading from La Paz to Coroico. It was built in the 1930s during the Chaco War by Paraguayan prisoners. Is the Death Road as frightening as it sounds? In short, yes.
