So after flying back into Sydney from Alice Springs, I only had a couple of nights to spend here before catching my flight onward to New Zealand. Charlotte and I decided to head straight back to our friendly hosts and we just chilled for the evening and caught up on some sleep. Was nice to be back in a real bed again!
The next day was spent doing not a lot as well really. We headed into town with all our bags and did a bit of souvenir shopping and took in the last view sights of Sydney. The plan was to meet up with some of the people we had met on tour in the Outback as they were all back in Sydney as well. We found theyre hostel in the Backpacker's area of Sydney and decided to head to a bar in the glitzy part of town. It ended up that after a pretty heavy night out, I had to go straight on to the airport at 4.30 in the morning in order to catch my flight on to New Zealand. I made it OK without falling asleep and was in Christchurch by lunchime. As for Charlotte, she had one more day to relax in Sydney before flying home (first class!!).
My time in Australia flew by, seems like only a couple of days ago that I arrived! Have seen and done so much and am glad that I managed to hire a campervan for the east coast, got a totally different perspective on the country doing it that way. The scenery and wildlife in Australia was really the best part about the place, so many different landscapes and am glad I managed to see a lot of them! As for the cities, theyre not so good. Sydney is great but the rest aren't amazing, just very commercial and not a lot going on. Have had a great time here but glad to be moving on to New Zealand and a country that is on a smaller scale!
