Today is going to be a long day because tonight we have a greyhound bus to Vancouver. We checked out of the room at twelve, we were able to get a little extension. Could have done with a few more hours to be honest. We left our bags at reception, and took a walk back into Jasper. We walked around looking for something to eat, and ended up having burgers in Whistlers Pub. It had turned into out local bar in Jasper. (This is the bar that has urinals in the toilet that looked like lips!) We played some more pool after our food. Had a couple of beers. We did try and think of ways to waste some time. Getting tattoos was a good one. Except the tattoo shop was closed today.
So we ended up walking back to the hotel, the receptionist was really nice and was happy for us to spend the time in reception, we were able to watch telly and use the free wifi. To waste a little more time we decided to go into the pool. On the walk down to the pool, we spotted an outdoor jacuzzi. We played a game who could spend the longest outside the pool, it must have been about 3 degrees maybe colder with the wind. I think I won, lasting 9 minutes. We even swam 20 lengths. We had managed to stay in the pool for 2 hours before we got bored.
Sat in reception and Watched a little news and a couple of cheesy television programmes we keep watching. They are easy watching but wish they didn't have so many bloody adverts. After an hour or so it was time to head to the cinema. It was the only thing to do in Jasper except sit in a bar. This movie theatre only has 2 screens. Our film of choice was Taken 2. I decided I was a little hungry and asked for sweet popcorn, except they don't have sweet. Only salty. I took the salty and took it back to my seat. Chris thought it tasted like cardboard. I managed to plough my way through most of the large box.
Our reviews on Taken 2. I enjoyed it. Chris didn't. That's about the extent out our reviews. We knew a pizza place was open late and went and got some before our hellish bus journey it was very cheesy, which made it a little greasy, but we polished the lot off. I think we were in their about an hour trying to waste some time. Our bus still wasn't leaving for about 3 hours. 01:10 departure. Lucky us. The glamorous side of the greyhound NOT. I don't think anything about going on greyhound is glamorous. These journeys are going to make us appreciate having a car to ourselves even more. We do still have another 30 days travelling greyhound.
No elk tonight, when we arrived back at the hotel our Aussie receptionist was going home, and we had just one more hour to wait before we walked with our packs to the bus station up the road. We left just after midnight. We had already been to the greyhound stop in the day and knew we would have to sit outside and wait as they didn't have anywhere to wait at this time in the morning. We had loads of clothes on, and we ended up waiting over an hour because the bus was late. It had been snowing in Edmonton which cause the bus to drive slower. Finally onboard out the cold and we even got 2 seats each. The start of our 12 hour journey. Vancouver here we come. Just looking forward to get off the bus and I have only been on it a couple of seconds!
That's all folks,
