Log 14th September:
Had a memorable 50th 2 days ago. Woke up in the perfect bay of Kioni on Ithaca for our 1st cooked brekkie in 3 months. Then sailed to Sivota on Levka Island for dinner and then 300 beers in a night club. Bad mistake, had to carry Casey home.
Yesterday we sailed for 6 hours with raging hangovers to beautiful Gaios on Paxos Island. Only a few days to go so we are doing some long sails to work our way back to Corfu.
This style of holiday is perfect. The Greek Islands are amazing and it's so relaxing living and traveling on a yacht. Each day we find an emerald bay to swim in during the day, then we sail to, and moor in a little bay with a town attached full of restaurants and shops or a historical village for the night. We will definitely be doing this again soon as these 2 weeks are in our top 5 experiences.
For our record the bays we visited in sequence were: 1) St Stefanos, Corfu, 2) Moutos, Sivota, 3) Mongonisi, Paxos, 4) Spartakhori, Meganisi, 5) Abelike, Meganisi, 6) Fiscardo, Cefallonia, 7) Eufimia, Cefallonia, 8) Kioni, Ithaca, 9) Sivota, Levka, 10) Gaios, Paxos, 11) Platarias, Mainland, 12) Agni, Corfu.
The highlights have been the bays of Fiscardo, Kioni and Gaios but they are all brilliant.
Log Fri 16th September:
So sad. Today we are back in port for our final night on the boat. Visited Corfu yesterday which is a town that is past it's prime and looks tired, but the day was a pearler because we sailed to a small bay called Agni for dinner and it was a classic night. Exceptional food at a restaurant not 3 meters from the waters edge. That was our last night at sea so we celebrated in style. What a great trip.
Log Sat 17th September:
It's over. Casey's have gone to the airport and we are in a hotel for the day prior to flying out tomorrow for Perth. It's hard to believe that 3 months have slipped by. What a journey!
Highlights were sailing in both Croatia and Greece plus driving from Croatia to Italy and staying at B&B's. The camper van chapter through Spain and Portugal was great also but It's too hard traveling during July and August in Europe as it's sooo busy. Avoid it. September is the month. It's a lot more relaxed and a lot cheaper too, whilst the weather is perfect.
Our work here is done!
