Log 2nd September:
The last leg of the journey has begun. Arriving in Corfu shortly ready to set sail tomorrow around the Greek Islands (Ionian Islands). John and Anne Casey are there already. That will be strange having to share space with others after so long.
Spent the last few days in Athens. It's hard to believe that they are such a financial basket case. Unlike Spain and Portugal the people are industrious, disciplined, advanced and mainly courteous. So it's easy to imagine that the problems lie at the highest level. No wonder the people are revolting- it seems that the bureaucrats have stuffed it up whereas in Spain and Portugal it seems to be an issue of attitude amongst the masses.
Anyway, Athens is nice enough but apart from a few amazing big ticket attractions like the Acropolis, there's not much else to see. We had a great 2 days of R&R in luxury after traveling rough for so long. Francisca met us in Athens so it was great catching up with her and just having an Aussie to talk to. Food was the best so far.
Later that day: Bloody Casey's. Been here in Corfu for 2 hours and into the grog. How will our livers survive the next 2 weeks?
Log Fri 9th. Just found out from the Casey's about the comments on our blog. We have been accessing the authors site which doesn't show the comments, so we have just seen them for the first time. Sorry to all those who sent comments that needed response. Yes, we are IT challenged, but thanks for the comments.
Spent a great week on the boat with Ann and John. Lazy days exploring beautiful islands, warm water and hot weather. Paradise! spoiling us with lovely meals ashore in quaint villages and more yummy food (hope we don't have excess weight on return flight). Sailing to Fiskardo today and will swim into a huge cave in the cliffs on the way.
Starting to think about home although another 3 months would be nice. Only 1 week left. Nooooo! Bareboat sailing will be high on our future To Do list as it is sooo relaxing. Love it.
