Hello

Well we have now reached Taman Negara in Malaysia, which is a massive national park that is kind of in the centre of the Malaysia. The park is solid jungle and for the most part it is unspoilt and un inhabited by humans apart from a few tribes that live deep in the forest.The quickest and easiest way for us to get into the park was to take a boat for 3 hours all the way up the river right into the park, and it was an amazing ride, it was what I would call real jungle and, thick mist on the trees, monkeys and parrots and a very chocolate brown river.

Once we arrived in the park with a now somewhat of a num bum we headed off with another couple, George and Sherril who we spent time with on Mira beach to the hostel that we have picked as being a good one for us. But as normal it as full, but no problem because the man gave us a lift up the river to the next place that was really nice.

Our hut that we all stayed in where set up away from the river back up steep steps and you could only get to the place by boat, it was very small and simple but also very quiet because it was away from the main park HQ. The only problem with the hut was that because they were in such thick rain forest they were a bit damp and this lead to all our cloths smelling really bad by the end of our time there.Over the next few days we spent time relaxing reading and taking in the surroundings and on two of the evenings me and George tried to go on a night walk through the jungle, but both times we were stopped by the rain that came every evening, and this was no normal rain but rain forest rain, the type of rain that makes rivers, hurts when it hits you and can get you drenched in seconds. Despite the rain it was still great fun just going up and down the river in the dark with a massive rain and lightning storm going on around us.

The main highlight for our time in the jungle was that canopy walk. The walk has been set up by the government and you walk for about 1km along rope walks and ladders along the top of the trees and up in the canopy, we got some great views of the jungle and was great fun, if not a little nerve racking at the time, it is amazing how much the rope walks bend and swing when you are on them. After the walk we all continued the walk for a few more miles to the top of a big hill to get some more amazing views of rain forest for as far as the eye can see.

At the end of the 3 of 4 day we spent in the jungle we left, saying our goodbyes to George and Sherril, who we had spent the last few weeks with and had load of fun with, hope that they are ok and still having a great time on their travels. Anna and I took the boat back out of the jungle then a train all the way to the North east of Malaysia to a town where it would be easy for us to make the jump into Thailand from. We travelled for around 12 hours and by the time we got to the town we were shattered.

The next day we chilled, got our smelly cloths cleaned and planned our border crossing into Thailand for the next day, the journey continues.
