Monday 18th Curaçao
We realised when we sailed in this morning, that we have been here before some 9 years ago - especially when they opened the floating harbour bridge!
Today a Discover Curaçao Island tour. From the port we were driven past salt flats where we saw a few flamingos in the distance. We continued to the Curaçao Museum in Otrabanda and on the way crossed the Queen Juliana Bridge with a view of St Ana Bay below.
Second stop was the spectacular Hato Caves. The caves are a dramatic collection of grottoes filled with stalactites, stalagmites and crystal clear pools. I expected them to be cold but they weren't. In fact enormous fans helped to cool the interior. Bats live in the caves and the guide shone her torch to show them roosting.
Our last stop was the Chobolobo Factory, where the world famous Curaçao liqueur has been produced since 1896. Very pleasant taste but we didn't buy any. Instead bought an ice cream each!!
Kralendijk, Bonaire tomorrow - no tour booked, just going to wander.
