Arrive in Xian (pronounced shain) at about 8.30 am. Poor sleep on sleeper train. Laura's phone dead- had hostel details on. Not chargeable and no one at station would help. Get taxi to hostel In LP- taxi woman lost so drive round for 45mins- still only cost 4.90. Get off at Janos hostel, used computer to get address for our place- lady there so nice. Copied out some Chinese and she went mad for it . Finally get to hostel. Have lunch and shower, leave by 6.30 pm for Muslim quarter- madness with cheap street food. Saw bell tower and drum tower.
