So left Melbourne for Auckland. I was extremely excited to go to New Zealand as its a new place yet so close. At the airport in Melbourne, waiting an hour to check in, we finally made it thought security and into duty free. After hearing our flight being called over the speakers, we ran from duty free shopping to the gate to board.
The flight itself was okay, a few little bumps along the way but landed safe. The guy next to us complimented the kids behind us for being well behaved.... Well maybe he didn't have them kicking his seat the whole flight.
Once in Auckland, security was easy with my new passport which let me skip the line. About 20 mins later Bec did finally come through and we were officially in New Zealand :)
Becs friend Michelle picked us up in her mini and drive us to her backpackers. Her car is a two door so Bec got out, locked me in, and then attempted to open my "door", which was the petrol part, to let me out...... Anyway we checked in and then went to dinner at Orleans, a restaurant based on New Orleans. I got a local beer and a po chicken burger with curly fires... Yum :)
After dinner we went to pizza pizza with the streepest steps. Michelle's boyfriend plays afl in New Zealand and we were at their post grand final drinks (they lost :( )
After pizza pizza, we headed to globe backpackers bar for what was meant to be a drink. We had a $3 local pint of beer and then a few more. Bec decided we just enter the pool competition in which we had three lives and you kept a life if you got the ball in, lost one if you missed and gained one if you got the black ball in. After thinking we would go out in straight sets, we made it both to the top 10, with Bec in 10th and me in 9th after pocketing the white ball after getting the other ball in :(
So first night here has been lots of fun and met some awesome people. I'm sure after some sleep tomorrow will be lots of fun. Not too sure what I'm in for yet, but I'm sure it will be good ;)
