We have survived our first chilly day in Munich. I think it topped out at 3 degrees today. We actually slept through most of last night which was nice. Must be the bonus of travelling over business class and arriving relatively relaxed.
We only got about 2.5hr sleep on Saturday night. We were picked up at 3am by our Emirates driver and had the quickest trip ever to the airport arriving about 3.45am. Checked in straight away and we were given the express path through immigration. It was nice to bypass the line of about 100 people as the doors didn't actually open till 4am and people were queing as they do.
Our gate and the lounge was at the furtherest point away. Works out well as the lounge is near the gate but I had to walk back to the Tax Refund Office at 5am to get some cash back on items purchased. Well, good old Australian govt at work. Meant to open at 5am, they didn't open the doors till 5.05am and it then took them a while to actually open the doors as it was stuck. Only one staff member was logged in, the other 2 couldn't log it. As you can imagine, people were getting antsy as we did have a plane to catch. Anyway, got my money back and time to board.
Mum and I both had window seats so I was sitting behind her. We had our own access to the aisle and each seat had it's only little mini bar for juice and soft drink although it really didn't keep the drinks cold. You also got a little mattress for your chair for when you wanted to make it into a bed. A welcome drink and then we were off. The entertainment unit had a zillion movies and tv shows to pick from...too many really. They took our brekky order and after eating, it was time to try and sleep.
Through the rest of the flight, we alternated between watching movies, eating or having a drink at the bar. Who would have ever thought that mum would willingly stay standed on a plane and not rush back to her seat like she usually does and tie up that seat belt.
Food was lovely, the only disappointment being the bread rolls were cold and a little hard (have to complain about something). We landed at Dubai and were able to hang out in the lounge while waiting for our connecting flight. Mum was happy to see they had coke because on the flight was pepsi and those that know mum, know how she loves her coke and won't touch pepsi.
Boarded on time for our next flight. There wasn't as much space on this plane but still 100x better than economy. I slept for most of this flight, feeling a little ill from lack of sleep. I didn't bother eating but mum enjoyed some dinner and she said she slept for about 3hrs which is unusual for her on a plane.
Landing at Munich, we were off the plane, through immigration, collected our bags and in our Emirates car within 30mins...bliss. About a 20-30min drive to our accomodation, a Pension on the outskirts of town and we were here. Our biggest worry was we would wake at 2am and not be able to get back to sleep but that was not the case luckily. It would be nice to be able to travel business class all the time, that is for sure!!

Treza Lennon HI Tannie, I am still making my way through all your travels. I have been reading a bit out of order but enjoying the way you have set this all up. Very impressive
